Piano works by Beethoven & Schumann

Nicolas van Poucke (piano)

Concert: 20:00 — 21:00

Nicolas van Poucke was called «The Young Freethinker among Dutch pianists» by the Dutch magazine ‘De Nieuwe Muze’. ‘He plays these works with great dedication and, with his powerful playing, brings out the grandeur of the works. This is aristocratic music, even in lyrical passages, which Van Poucke makes convincing. He gives space to poetry, without falling into weakness or inappropriate rubato.’ Trouw Newspaper.

In this program, Nicolas will present a NEW program by the famous Polish composer and virtuoso pianist of the Romantic period FREDERIC CHOPIN ( 1810 - 1849).

Chopin wrote primarily for solo piano. He has maintained worldwide renown as a leading musician of his era, one whose "poetic genius was based on a professional technique that was without equal in his generation. Chopin's compositions are especially technically demanding and they expanded the limits of the instrument, his own performances noted for their nuance and sensitivity. Chopin's music, his status as one of music's earliest celebrities, his indirect association with political insurrection, his high-profile love-life, and his early death have made him a leading symbol of the Romantic era.
